Important Information on BigStuff Firmware Updates:
If your GEN4 ECU has a firmware version of 00.0.9 or earlier, you MUST update the ECU firmware first with firmware version 00.0.0 (click HERE to download).
Once version 00.0.0 has been installed, you can then update to the newest firmware update.
If you have firmware above version 00.0.9, you will not need to update using version 00.0.0 first again. It will be a single jump to the nearest firmware version.
Every time you update your GEN4 ECU firmware, a new project initialization file must be installed on any computer you plan on using to communicate with the ECU.
The initialization file is used to synchronize the data on your computer to the GEN4 ECU. This is a very important step and must not be overlooked!
You can go online to the internet with your BigComm GEN4 Pro software and under the Help menu click on “Check for Updates.” This will download the latest updates including the .ini files you will need to update your ECU.Â
If you skip the previous step it is recommended to be on WiFi to the internet with your computer so that the GEN4 software can automatically download the correct initialization file necessary to complete the update from our web server.
If you do not download the correct initialization file and use the old version, your ECU can become corrupt with incorrect data and may not work properly. When online with the ECU the data will show incorrect values and the engine may not run. You will not hurt the ECU as the data will be corrupt, but reach out to BigStuff so that we can get everything back to normal for your project!
Do not hesitate to reach out to BigStuff for any questions or concerns on how to perform the update!
This is the CAN OPEN data that the GEN4 ECU broadcasts out over the positive and negative CAN wires on the CAN PORT 3-wire connector on the main engine harness. The CAN network is polarity sensitive and you may to install a 100ohm termination resistor on your network depending on your hardware configuration. Please contact BigStuff if you have any questions!
